When these 2 (or 5) things happen the US economy will collapse ...
According to Peter Schiff:
* US stocks, US dollar, and US bonds go down TOGETHER
* Gold and Gold stocks go up.
Some times follow-up questions are good.
On 2012-06-01, the leftwinger Seth MacFarlane [creator & driving force behind Family Guy] actually said "That's the government's job is to, like it or not, force us to do things that we don't wanna do that will ultimately help us all. And I'm sure I'll be called a socialist for that last comment."
No follow up questions such as: are there any exceptions to that principle?
Should people be locked up in gaols [crime schools] then released with a criminal record that ruins their future because they take the wrong kind of drugs? Should all old folks be bumped off to help us all? Should unhealthy food be banned to help us all? Should there be government censorship [eg of the internet] in order to help us all? Should all cars be banned because more people have been killed by cars than by wars? Should there be a camera in every home to prevent child abuse and domestic violence? Should game shows be banned? Should Emerdale farm be banned for crimes against acting? Should the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan be banned as a bad influence [what folks thought in the 60s] that hurts the general good. Should everyone be conscripted into the army? Should all women be forced to have children to keep the birth rate up? Should skimpy outfits be banned for leading to a more superficial society? And it is all predicated on the government actually knowing what is best for us all. Sounds like something a dictator or the Taliban would agree with: ban music and kite flying.
How about this as principle: A person is free to do as they please as long as it does not harm another eg murder, rape, assault, verbal abuse, bullying, having conifers that bock out light in the next door neighbour's garden. ;)
